Flint City Bucks is an American soccer team based in Flint, Michigan, United States. Founded in 1995, the team plays in USL League Two. The club was founded in 1995 as the Mid-Michigan Bucks, playing in Saginaw, and began playing in 1996.

Family and Community Night at Durant Tuuri Mott will dedicate Mrs. Simmons' Choice Books Library in honor of Linda Simmons, former DTM principal on Thursday, May 30 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Honoring a career in elementary education spanning more than three decades, Linda Simmons was passionate about educating children.   In her roles as both classroom teacher and subsequently,  assistant principal,  she nurtured a culture of high expectations from all students and their teachers.   She was known for listening to and acting on the needs of staff and students.   The transfer of knowledge and skills to each child every day was a commitment from the heart as she searched for fresh and engaging methods to educate children.   Mrs. Simmons understood that the student learning experience would open them to the power of words, language, and concepts for living a productive and fulfilling life.   She wanted students to see themselves and their images in books and career opportunities.  Mrs. Simmons passed away on July 18, 2022. 

The Mrs. Simmons' Choice Books Library will provide hundreds of titles that appeal to elementary school students across all cultures, races, and ethnicities.   Books will offer engaging fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and informational reading that supports positive representation and equity for children of all backgrounds.   

On Thursday, May 30, scholars will be able to choose free books from Mrs. Simmons' Choice Books Library to build their home libraries.     

Free food, activity stations,  and prizes will be available.  

The Mrs. Simmons Choice Books Library will be located in the Main Library of Durant Tuuri Mott, 1518 University Drive, Flint, MI 48504.
